The Sweet Shower: Deweecious Setup

Da Hubs thinks I'm planning an excessive amount of food for MOH-Ho's shower, and dared me to do a post asking your opinion. I ain't scurred! While I'm at it, Imma show you the setup of it all too.

Here is the main buffet table that will feature 10 desserts:
  1. Cupcakes
  2. Brownie bites
  3. Raspberry Truffles
  4. Palmiers
  5. Biscotti
  6. Cookies (Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, White Chocolate Macadamia)
  7. Madeleines
  8. Sugar Free Cookies (Lemon Creme and Chocolate Striped Shortbread)
  9. Apple Pie
  10. Cherry or Pumpkin Pie (still deciding, what do you think?)
I'm reusing my wedding cake stands here. The 2 pies will be placed at the front corners of the table. I wanted to keep them low (my excuse for being too cheap to buy pie plates), and I know I've got issues but I just loove those little tongs!
Those extra little tags from the invite suite will label the desserts:
Then there's the cotton candy and chocolate fountain station, which will be manned by MOH-Ho's homeboy:
Chocolate fountain dip items include:
  1. Strawberries
  2. Pineapple
  3. Marshmallows
  4. Pretzels
  5. Graham Crackers
and y'all know how much I dig that chocolate fountain!

Third table will serve 5 drinks (Thermos is a photo stand-in for a carafe):
  1. 2% Milk
  2. Raspberry Lemonade Vodka
  3. Cream Soda
  4. Coffee
  5. Bottled Water (for ease to take-along upon departure)
I did special labels for each drink (again, matching the invites):
There will be around 25 (plus or minus a couple) people at this shower. As a huge boofay fan, I really wanted to provide a good variety of desserts. I'll also be providing to-go bags for guests to take food home. One highlight of a recent convo between da hubs and I on this topic went down like this:

DH: 'AND 2 pies?! No pies! You don't need the pies! Plus no one eat pies without ice cream!'
Me: ' Ooo! I should do an ice cream station too then, with a toppings buffet!'
(for the sake of my marriage, I'm forgoing the ice cream station)

I have quite a bit of detail to be added to this basic set up. But before we get to that post, will you be our judge and tell us if you think I'm over doing things and should be beaten by the starving children in China; OR if I'm simply doing the word buffet justice? (or if you think I'm underestimating it all and must add the ice cream station, I'd like to hear that too)

  1. Get rid of the pies and the cotton candy. Add little cones filled with carmel or kettle popcorn. You've got plenty for 25 people. As a side note, unless people are really into milk, I would ditch the milk too. If it's not ice cold, it's just gross. Replace it with a hot water station and offer assorted teas and hot chocolate.

I stumbled onto your blog awhile ago and really enjoy your creativity - loved your wedding!

  2. Oh man! I can't wait to see this boofay in all its glory!!

  3. This is planning genius, you're a girl after my own heart. I love how helpful this is and how much time you'll save. I think everything sounds wonderful. If there are a lot of desserts that I want to try I leave the ice cream off my pie so I can eat more. =)

  4. Um. I just made myself guess how many people would be there before the end of the post. I guessed MORE THAN 50.

So. Yes. Way way too much. Pretty though!

  5. Haha, yeah this is way, WAY too much for 25 people, especially 25 women who will start to feel guilty after awhile. Or at least that is what happens with me. :)

  6. @heidistitches: MMM... kettlecorn...
the dispenser i'm putting the milk in has a slot for ice at the bottom to help keep it cold. at the clubhouse there's a full kitchen so i'll only put out 1 gallon of milk at a time and refill with fridged stuff as necessary. and thx for the nice words!

and thanks to all you guys for always keeping it real :)

  7. Hmm, I played the same game as Meg + also arrived at >50 people :) But man, I do like how you think + have totally found myself falling down that slippery slope of adding "just one more thing!" because of course it makes (yummy tasty) sense! I totally love everything you have laid out (esp that dessert layout -- genius!) -- I can't add more than what the ladies above have suggested, except suggest that cookies 4-8 and the pies are interchangeable in my opinion -- meaning, if you've got that fab chocolate fountain, you could either lose all the cookies or lose the pies (but mmm, I heart pies! but those seem quite more labor-intensive than the cookies, unless you're making those from scratch too?)

Anyway -- lucky lucky honoree :)! And sidenote: I only started stopping by right before your wedding, so maybe this is answered: but boofay? Do I sense some Filipina lovin? Sorry, me + the fam + all our "You know you're a filipino if..." quizzes always had this on there, and I didn't know if anyone else said "boofay" :D

  8. @CaraBella: lol, i sometimes add a little personal umph to my fav words. boofay is simply one of those with no cultural influences (i'm chinese). i too didn't know that anyone else would say that! :)

  9. Would you be willing to sell the template for the choclotate fountail that say "sweet" I would love to use those for a shower and pay you for the usage. ashlan martin at hotmail dot com
